The Explorer Controller (EC) Operations version 1.5 instructor-led course is a lab-intensive course that introduces you to the Explorer Controller (EC) server (formerly a Digital Network Control System [DNCS]) running 6.x software to maintain Cisco's Digital Broadband Delivery System (DBDS). Ensuring your digital broadband system delivers the services demanded by subscribers is a critical function. In this course, you will learn how to configure network elements, set up digital services, and maintain the DBDS using the EC. This course combines lecture materials and hands-on labs throughout to practice successfully operating an Explorer Controller.
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
Use the EC to add and configure additional components and broadcast and PPV services to an existing DBDS
Describe the IPG, VOD, and EAS services the DBDS offers
Use the Doctor report and tools on the EC that are useful in monitoring and maintaining a DBDS
This course is designed for technical professionals who need to know how to use an Explorer Controller (EC) server for daily operations.
A general knowledge of HFC network structure, and a basic familiarity with UNIX, VI editor and basic file manipulation in a UNIX environment are helpful.
