The Instructor Certification Program (ICP) determines the process by which an instructor is approved as a Certified Cisco Systems Instructor (CCSI). ICP events are run in partnership between Cisco's Worldwide Learning Partner Channel (WWLPC) and authorized Cisco Learning Specialized Partners.
Candidates who pass both presentation and lab components of the ICP event qualify as a CCSI.
The proctor will assess Candidate abilities in the following areas:
Maintaining Instructional Credibility
Managing the Learning Environment
Communicating Effectively
Effective Use of Questions
Providing Motivation and Reinforcement
Providing Clarification and Feedback
This certification event is intended for candidates who would like to become certified to deliver authorized Cisco training courses. This certification event ensures that instructors demonstrate capabilities and skills for interactive and engaging classroom instruction in a technical environment with hands-on technical laboratory exercises.
Steps to Attend an ICP event:
1. Candidate must first be sponsored by a Cisco Specialized Learning Partner or Cisco Learning Distributor and must have a current CCNA or higher certification.
2. Candidate must select any authorized course to be their initial baseline course which they will be certified to teach (i.e. ICND1, ROUTE, TSHOOT) once they pass the Instructor Certification Program (ICP). The initial certification course selected is entered in the ICP registration form by the Learning Partner instructor lead (step 6).
3. Candidate must pass the exam associated with selected initial baseline course.
4. Candidate must observe the class selected to be their initial baseline course taught by a CCSI.
5. Candidate obtains the Student and Instructor Kits for ICND1 and ICND2 from the sponsoring Learning Partner to prepare for the ICP event.
6. Sponsoring Learning Partner enrolls the candidate in the Instructor Certification Program (ICP) event which evaluates Presentation skills and Technical/Lab skills.
Guidelines for ICP Candidates
Make sure you have good presentation skills, either as a result of being a member of another vendor instructor certification scheme, by co-teaching with an experienced CCSI, or by attending a formal Train The Trainer course.
Try to travel at least one day before the ICP. You will perform better if you are refreshed and relaxed after a good nights rest.
